| A charming 1940's Mexican Cruz de Animas retablo with twelve anima solas in the lower quadrant. The Anima Solas, for those who are unfamiliar, are departed ancestral souls awaiting judgement in the flames of purgatory. The Anima Sola (Lonely Soul) may be invoked when a family member or loved one dies in sin or conversely, to send an enemy to a state of temporary suffering or misery in purgatory. The retablo is displayed behind glass in the original free-standing, punched tin nicho frame. Image size is 9.5" x 6.5." The frame size is 14.5" x 9.5" Condition is excellent. |
