This exceptionally fine and rare 19th century retablo on heavy gauge tin represents "El Nino Cautivo, or the "Captive Child" - one of the most obscure subjects in retablo art. El Nino Cautivo is almost always depicted as he is here, with a pair of shackles and one hand pointing to God.
