| This charming 19th century retablo painting represents "NS de Carmen" or "Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. NS de Carmen, patroness saint of purgatory, is suspended on puffy white clouds with the Christ child in one hand the scapular shield of the Carmelite Order in her other. In the lower quadrant, a pair of anima solas, departed ancestral souls, await judgement in the flames of purgatory. The retablo is beautifully rendered, with tiny painted flower blossoms and brilliant gold work throughout.

Overall condition is excellent with only minor paint loss. |
