| This charming 19th century wooden "tabla" retablo represents "NS de Carmen" or "Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. NS de Carmen, patroness saint of purgatory, is suspended on puffy white clouds with the Christ child in one hand the scapular shield of the Carmelite Order in her other. In the lower quadrant, a pair of anima solas, departed ancestral souls, await judgement in the flames of purgatory.
Dimensions: 12 inches x 7.5 inches.
Overall condition is excellent with only minor paint loss. |
