| "La Madre Santisma de la Luz" is depicted in this rare 19th century Mexican retablo painting. As seen above, Mary rescues a man from the jaws of a fiery dragon in lower left. In the right quadrant, Baby Jesus picks souls from a basket held by an angel. An all around great folk retablo. The retablo is displayed in a 19th century reverse glass painted nicho frame which is a beautiful work of art in itself.
