#3791 - Our Lady of the Sacred Cave

This rare 19th century retablo represents "NS de la Cueva Santa" or "Our Lady of the Sacred Cave." As seen above, Mary, positioned inside a bell shaped grotto, is cloaked in her traditional white gown with large flower blossoms in the periphery. The retablo is attributed to Concepcion Avila - the so called "bee sting lip painter." His unique style is unmistakable.

Dimensions: image 7 inches x 5 inches.
