This 19th century Mexican retablo, circa 1870, represents "La Sagrada Familia" with Holy Spirit radiating celestial light from above. The Sacred Family represents Baby Jesus, with Joseph and Santa Maria. This example is attributed to Concepcion Avila, one of Mexico's most important 19th century retablo painters. His unique style is unmistakable.
