#3257 - San Ramon Nonato

This 19th century Mexican retablo represents "San Ramon Nonato." San Ramon is the patron saint of secrets and silence, and it is often said that to prevent him from gossiping his lips must be rubbed frequently. Like so many examples of this subject, his mouth has been partially rubbed away by the hands of the faithful. The converted Christian slave in lower right is a reference to San Ramon's conversion of Mohammedans to Christianity.

Dimensions of the retablo are 5" x 7."
