Rare 17th Century Colonial Coffer - #6184
A gorgeous 17th century Spanish colonial cedar wood coffer bound in leather with beautiful hand tooled foliate motifs and stippling -- with original hand forged iron hasp, handles and lock-plate. Mexico - circa 1650. Similar 17th century Mexican leather baul located at the German Leather Museum (see black and white scan) located in Offenbach, Hesse, Germany. Overall with a rich and lustrous surface patina. 

Dimensions: 41 inches long x 21 inches wide x 16 inches high.

In overall excellent condition.
