This vintage 'gracejo' (joker) from the highlands of Guatemala embodies the most fundamental characteristics of a good mask; age, style, wear, patina, and perhaps most of all, 'character' which is captured in his witty and almost strangely familiar grin. Excellent wear and patina with innumerable paint layers - Guatemala, circa 1940.
