This rare 19th century Mexican Retablo depicts "Santa Librata," one of the most obscure subjects in retablo art. Santa Librata is invoked by married women with difficult husbands and those suffering at the hour of death. She is always portrayed as she is here, as a crucified martyr with a large and colorful garland of roses.
Dimensions are 7" x 10."
Condition: overall condition is very goos with only minor paint loss and candle burn in the lower quadrant.
