A large and impressive vintage Mexican "nagual" by Candelario Medrano - circa 1960's / 1970. Naguales, for those who are unfamiliar, are mythical animals with human faces, that were used for protection against evil. This unique creature, perhaps a dog or a lion, features several coats of industrial yellow paint, a colorful mane and a long snout. The silver cup is shown for scale only and is not part of this listing.
