This early 19th century retablo on heavy gauge tin represents San Miguel Archangel, patron saint of warriors and soldiers. Saint Michael, leader of the forces of heaven in the triumph over the forces of evil, is usually depicted as he is here, as a winged archangel in battle attire with cherubim and a demon underfoot.
The retablo is displayed in a beautiful Spanish colonial style 925 silver repousse frame - a work of art in itself.
Dimensions: Retablo measures 10 inches x 7 inches. Frame measures 17 inches x 11.5 inches Condition is excellent.
