San Pascual Bailon, one of the most elusive subjects in retablo art, is represented in this classic 19th century folk retablo. Saint Pascal is the patron saint of cooks and kitchens and he is almost always depicted as he is here, surrounded by cooking paraphernalia, a stove, pots, pans and a monstrance in the right quadrant.
