A fine early 20th century (circa 1920) Egyptian applique square from the district of Bab Zuwaylo, Cairo. Typically, these were made by the tent makers who who created applique murals to form celebratory tents for festivals. Large linen and cotton panel with graphic geometric and foliate patterns. Professionally backed and stretched.
